The house and the oak
The fact is, I designed this house with the structure practically finished. The owners, overwhelmed, came to my friend Javier (Dyo), a brilliant interior designer who is a pleasure to work with.
Desperate, they saw that the structure was coming to nothing and that the house's design didn't appeal to them. What a terrible situation! So much effort and resources invested, only for you not to like what's being built.
We got to work immediately; there was no time to waste, the project couldn't be stopped, and we had to hire the masonry, installations, and more.
We could and had to rely only on the structure of the building.
The reinforced concrete frame stood on a cliff overlooking the Malaga countryside, and a solitary tree on top resisted being vacated from the plot.
We saw it clearly…
…the house had to face and project itself towards the horizon, overlooking the fabulous landscape of Coín.
…would embrace the stone cornice and extend it along the façade.
…and would subtly brush against the oldest inhabitant of the lot. It would greet and watch over the oak, bowing subtly toward it.
