The House and the Holm Oak
The fact is that I designed this house with the structure practically finished. The owners, feeling overwhelmed, approached my friend Javier (Dyo), a brilliant interior designer with whom it is a pleasure to work.
Desperate, they saw that the structure was being completed and that the design of the house did not excite them. What a terrible situation! So much effort and resources invested only to not like what is being built.
We got to work immediately, there was no time to lose, the construction could not be stopped, and we had to hire masonry, installations, and more.
We could only and had to rely on the building's structure.
The reinforced concrete framework stood on a cliff to overlook the Malaga countryside, and a solitary holm oak resisted being removed from the plot.
We saw it clearly…
…the house should face and project towards the horizon, looking at the fabulous landscape of Coín.
…it would embrace the stone ledge, needing to extend this along the facade.
…and it would subtly touch the oldest inhabitant of the site. It would greet and watch over the holm oak, gently leaning towards it.
